Low Platelets

Shannon

I am currently 14 weeks pregnant with my second child. At my last obgyn appointment, they drawled blood to check my blood counts. Everything for the most part was good except my platelets, which was 121 (standard range= 150-450). I had our first daughter 8 months ago, and was induced with her due to my platelets dropping too low, I believe it was 80. They originally sent me into the hospital with the last pregnancy to be monitored due to my blood pressure spiking all of sudden at my week 39 appointment(I passed my glucose test and my blood pressure was always very low at my previous appointments up until this point). When I got to the hospital to be monitored, luckily my blood pressure lowered. But that’s when they discovered my platelets were low after doing some bloodwork. They didn’t want to send me home, fearing my platelets would drop any lower where I couldn’t receive an epidural or if need be, have a c-section. So they decided to induce me. After having my daughter, they also found out I had a partial placenta abruption. This time around, I’m obviously more concerned with my platelet levels! I know 121 isn’t dangerously low, but I was wondering what others with low platelets experienced? Did your doctors monitor you more? Anything help? Thank you ♥️
