Negative test with implantation spotting?

So I am due to get my period in 2 days and took a pregnancy test this afternoon. It was negative. Yesterday, I felt a brief sharp pain on my right side and had some very light spotting. Assuming it was the beginning of my period, I let it go and just waited for the real thing. Today, still no real period, just some more really light spotting. For the past few months, the spotting has turned into a full period within hours. Any chance of implantation bleeding rather than early period? 🤞🤞🤞(Please be kind)
