Stopping my period

I have been trying since February to stop my period by taking my birth control pills back to back without taking that week break in between. My period this month was 7 days late, so I was celebrating, but then I got it and it is flowing strong 🤦🏼‍♀️ ugh! Has anyone had this issue when trying to stop their period with the birth control pills? How long did it take you to have yours stop? I am really hoping I miss it in October because I am going on a Caribbean cruise and cannot wear tampons. I don’t want to sit out of the pool or ocean 😩 btw I did get my doctor’s approval to take my birth control in this way.
