How long does cluster feeding last ?

Question

My almost 3 week old has been wanting to nurse almost every hour or at the latest 2 hours but rarely waits until 2 hours. 
He has been doing this for a week, is he just using me as a pacifier? 
Everyone keeps telling me and asking me if he’s just using me as a pacifier and it makes me upset.
He’s also already a pound or possibly two above his birth weight

Mine didn’t stop completely cluster feeding until around 3 months. It’s exhausting but it does get better. She’s 6 months now and is on a pretty good schedule. She will still nurse to sleep though

Cluster feeding typically lasts 2-7days. So for some it's more or less constant from baby is born till the first months.

Nursing every hour or two is normal for a newborn. That isn't even clusterfeeding. Clusterfeeding is when you finish nursing and have time to pee and maybe chug a glass of water before baby is demanding to nurse again. Like literally 5-10 minutes between. You'll know when it happens. Its rough but just remember it isn't forever.

For me & my baby this is the difference:  if feedings are going longer than 15 mins per boob, he’s usually using me as a pacifier. If he’s getting hungry over and over sooner than 2.5-3 hours between, it’s cluster feeding.
