Tips for BF SGA baby

Hi All,

My DD is on day 4 and healthy. However I’m struggling to BF comfortably.

With my first I had pain on the initial latch which always subsided within 10 seconds. This time I haven’t been so lucky.

Her mouth is tiny but her latch is good according to the various midwives on the postnatal ward and the one who visited us at home. I’ve tried various holds and even though the football hold works best I’m still occasionally in pain after the initial latch. She has no tongue ties either.

I’m seeing another midwife tomorrow and heading to an early breastfeeding and settling consult on Monday, but was wondering if anyone had tips on breastfeeding SGA babies?
