New pill

I started a new birth control to help me better with my cramps. I had my cycle like a week ago,but didn’t take my birth control when I started my cycle I took it a week later . I didn’t have time to go to the pharmacy to get I know I know it sounds bad. I started taking it this Tuesday but I wanted to know if that is bad to do take it when not on your period? I’m normally very good at taking it and remember it and do stuff on time. Any tips ? Should have I waited till my next cycle ?
