My baby won't eat
I'm looking for someone who is going through what I'm going through. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant and had an emergency c-section at 38 weeks due to an increase of fluid. They thought my baby would be 11 pounds but was 9.1 pounds. She was taken to the NICU bc she had trouble breathing. She was on oxygen for a day. That same day she was put on a NG tube. She was refusing to take her bottles or falling asleep with the bottle in her mouth...barely taking anything. She ended up staying in the NICU for 6 weeks. While we were there we were constantly told by nurses and drs. that her unwillingness to eat is common in babies born to mothers with gestational diabetes. They don't know why babies are like this but it is very common. One day a switch will flip and they'll start eating. They can't tell us how long it will take but that it will happen one day. The only way to get our baby home was to wait it out or surgery for a g tube. We did the surgery. Is there anyone else who is going through the same thing? Our pediatrician doesn't think it's the gestational diabetes and has sent us to several drs and specialist. No one has an answer. Any advice or support on your experiences would be greatly appreciated!
