Did anyone feel like baby's 1st birthday party was stressful / hectic?

I was hoping to be able to enjoy it more and be more present but omg, it felt so hectic....a million people trying to get the baby's attention at once all throughout the party, making sure food, desserts, and gifts all went smoothly....10 year old right up in baby's face the entire time because she's obsessed with her...
It was a great day overall but are all parties stressful/hectic like this?? 😴 I'm ready to pass out.

I always make sure our parties a simple. It’s just family and so we do a potluck (I supply the meat and everyone else brings a side or some sort of tasty treat). I then make a cake for them and it’s usually a simple sheet cake with some sort of decorating on top. I maybe put up some streamers and have some balloons. I keep the focus on celebrating with the family and not about the things around. We don’t have the money to pay for the really expensive parties and I’m not sure if we would even want to do any extravagant.

I’m so glad my daughter had a great first bday. So I’m one of those “ extra “ moms so we did billy bees / dinner for her bday and then had a party for her the next day . The billy beez and dinner was great! But the party was very stressful. I was running around hanging decorations while my husband watched her , made sure all the food was here on time and that there was enough of it . Was making sure everybody was having a good time , making sure the kids weren’t bored, Elmo came so made sure i did a program for that and THEN clean up. It was a lot . The end of the day i was exhausted . But I’d say worth it for the memories and pictures . For now on though i don’t think any big parties, just maybe billy beez, cookouts , Sleepover parties when she’s older, etc

I just had family come to my house and had a cake made so I spent about $100 total with a few presents and some decorations. I didn’t want all the stress so it was nice and simple lol.

Ours was very casual, and it was honestly a great afternoon.
We didn’t spend a lot of money, all up maybe $100 on decorations and the cake. 
Everyone brought a plate, and it took a lot of the stress off of me.

Yes. We ended up having two on back to back weekends because our families are too big to fit them all at our house. We did the same menu for both, but we still had to make everything twice. Although I enjoyed baking four cakes (two smash and two regular). We won’t be doing two next year! We’re planning out enough in advance to reserve a place. Our son’s birthday is the same weekend as HS graduation, so it’s hard to find places to reserve if we don’t start now.

Yes, especially 1st birthdays. Baby's don't really like that many people around or that big of a change in their routine. Also, fitting in their nap can be a challenge. Ours was pretty good though. We only had close family and a good friend, but it was still 15 people. I wouldn't want to do anymore than that. We made fajitas and my friend made all the sides which was so kind, helpful, and delicious. We kept everything else pretty simple, but of course everyone wanted time with the birthday girl, so she did get overwhelmed a few times. Parties at this age really are for the parents and guests. Baby would be happy with hanging out at home, eating cake, and getting their parents undivided attention. Each year should get easier though as long as you try to keep it simple.

I don't like to host parties but my husband does. Lol. So I wasn't fond of it but my daughter had a great time and so did our families. I enjoyed how happy everyone was. 
I had that vomit feeling and nervousness the entire time. Kinda just wanted to cuddle with my daughter instead. 😂

It’s always hard to run a party and enjoy a party. My family is really good about helping each other out so that the parents can enjoy time with their child and friends.

That’s why I like small simple get togethers for birthdays. For my kid’s first we went to my mom’s for dinner with my sisters. They gave him a few gifts, my mom cooked dinner, and we had some cupcakes.
