Increase milk supply?

Ladies I'm having trouble keeping up my milk supply. I heard that pumping helps but I'm only pumping a total of 2 oz from each pumping session and it seems to not be enough for my 1 month old. Anything I could do to increase my supply for her? What are some things you have tried? How much did your baby eat at 1 month old? How fast could I see results of increased supply?

Keep in mind that the average mom who is pumping between breastfeeding sessions can express between ONE and THREE oz per pumping session (not per breast, per session). It cannot be stressed enough that the amount of milk you able to pump is NOT ever a reliable indicator of how much milk you are producing, nor how much milk baby is taking in. The healthy breastfed baby is usually much more efficient at getting milk from the breast than a pump is.

That’s a good amount of milk you are making. At 1 month they don’t eat a lot yet. I used to worry I wasn’t making enough either but my baby was gaining weight and was content after feeding. In order to increase supply the key is to keep pumping for about 5-10 minutes even though milk isn’t coming out. This stimulates your breasts to make more milk next time. Also I made my own lactation brownies, smoothie, or cookies. It’s basically just adding brewers yeast and flax seed to whatever you want. This really helped me up my game! Now I make enough to feed my 4 mth old son plus store about 2 weeks worth in my freezer.
