I really need thoughts on this!

So I had a scan a few days ago and there was no heartbeat, baby was too small for gestation, etc. I've booked for a D&C with a confirmatory scan booked on the day. I decided to take a pregnancy test today as my pregnancy symptoms have completely disappeared and I figured I could try confirm at home with a test instead of trying to deal with all the uncertainty.

On the test the test line came out darker than the control line, when I checked what this means it means my HCG levels are so high that its draining the dye from the control line. So my HCG levels are climbing, but my symptoms have stopped and the pregnancy appears to have stopped before there was even a heartbeat.

What am I meant to do/think now? Do I keep my D&C appointment with confirmatory scan or do I cancel it and schedule a hospital/midwife appointment? Am I is carrying or not because I really just need to know at this point!
