Can 3 year olds be OCD?

For the past month my daughter has been obsessed with doors needing to be closed. Not just typical doors we keep closed (pantry, bathroom). Literally all doors. She’ll close the closet door, then the door leading to the bathroom, and then the bedroom door. She gets down off the couch to make sure they are all closed. Every single door in our house has to be closed.

I’m sure they can be BUT I think it’s also a normal phase. I also have a 3 year old, we ask her to keep the toilet door closes so her little brother can’t get in there.. but she now wants to keep all the doors closed even if we ask her to open then it’s a solid no 😂 she’s getting better now. She also went threw a phase of lining things up perfecting and always putting her toys back in the exact same place (kinda wish that phase lasted).

my daughter does the same thing. we'll be getting ready to go and i'm like okay let's stand by the door she'll run to every room & close every single door before making her way to the front door.

My baby sister did that at 3 years old. I didn’t understand it but I guess it’s just a normal phase they go through lol

That’s pretty normal toddler behavior. Mine is the opposite right now, all doors should be open. He previously went through a closing all the doors phase.

My toddler won't let me have any door open she loves closing things. She also loves putting things inside of things, and then closing the lid. 🥰🥰

My son is the same way since he was maybe 16 months old.  My friend told me it’s “baby/Toddler OCD” and it made sense to me!  Toddlers crave structure and rules, so once we told him that certain doors must be closed, he’s pretty much extended that rule to all doors.  One time we were walking in the street and one business had their doors open (it was a hot day) and he insisted on closing it! 😂 I somehow distracted him and he gave up on it.  I think it’s normal/ cute and they’ll grow out of it.
