Discharge/Spotting after IUD Insertion?

I’ve been spotting lightly every day after my IUD insertion last Tuesday, until suddenly starting on Sunday I’ve had dark brown clumpy discharge/spotting. Is that normal? Is it still spotting or did I start my period early somehow after getting an IUD?

My doctor said to expect jelly like discharge with or without blood after insertion. Brown just means old blood. You could be starting your period or spotting. Irregular bleeding with the iud is normal. I got that fischarge but didnt start my period on it until 10 days after i got it. It aounds normal to me. Irregular bleeding can last the first 3 to 6 months you have the iud. But periods overall should become lighter in flow.

I got my iud Valentine’s Day of this year, and i spotted in annoying amounts until the beginning of June. Now I have no period, and forget it’s there.
