It depends on the couple if they're willing to be committed and go through the opsticles , my husband and i have been together since i was in 7th grade we now are married with 2 kids and just got our first home together.

Honestly? I think they can, but it’s almost a shame, to me..... people grow soooo much from childhood/high school to adult hood, and not truly experiencing life selfishly while you can really limits and, in my opinion, stunts a person’s growth.

My parents started dating in grade 11, they just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

Me and my SO have been together since 2012 :) we are now 22 and are trying for our third child :)

At high school we're still children and our brains are still developing. We change massively up until the age of 25 (I refused to get engaged before this age for that reason) and then still beyond in ways that none of us can foresee. I'm in my thirties but I'm under no illusion that my life may shatter to pieces tomorrow.
The best we can hope at any age is that we and our loved one grow in the same direction, and not naturally away. But if it's away, then it's meant to be that way for both of you.
So sure, there's a tiny percentage of high school sweethearts who happen to grow together and live a long and happy life together, but it's rare for good reason. Just never clip your wings for the ideal of a forever that may not be meant to be.

My sister and her husband have been together since high school. They’re in their mid 30’s now, married and doing very well.

I know a couple that have lasted but I’m SOOOO glad my high school sweetheart broke up with me before my senior year. I wouldn’t have the amazing life I have now if I had stayed with him.

I wasn't looking at it from a romantic POV, I was looking at it as in friendships. But both are possible, friendships are more likely though.

It can work. My husband is my HS sweetheart,  we've been together 16 years, married 10 years. 2 kids and 1 on the way. It's hard work but if you truly love that person, it will work. Communication is key and so is trust.  If you don't have trust you have nothing. Also remember that a relationship is about partnership,  not ownership!
