Should I be induced?

Question

My doctor scheduled me for an elective induction at 39 +6. She’s going out of town after my due date for 10 days. This baby feels ready to go. I’ve had contractions, cramping, and lightening crotch off and on for a couple weeks. Would you go through with the induction or wait it out and deliver with the on call doctor?

I got the soonest induction I could which is unfortunately monday since my Dr isn't on call this weekend.

It’s completely up to you. What do you feel is best for you and your baby?
If I were in the same situation I would probably want my doctor to deliver my baby, because I’m weird about doctors. I don’t trust easily and get freaked out that doctors won’t listen to me or treat me as a person (I’ve had some really bad doctors before). For myself, I don’t like the idea of being induced - I don’t like the risks involved and the potential for greater pain than would be the case with labor starting on its own. But if I had to decide between not being induced and having a stranger deliver my baby or being induced with my doctor - I’d pick my doctor every time.

I opted for an induction simply for the fact that if I went into labor naturally I dont think I'd make it to the nearest hospital that delivers. I was also induced with my son which was the easiest labor so far.

I really hated being induced with my first... the contractions were more painful than I could have ever imagined, my epidural was crap, and I ended up needed and episiotomy and forceps. To each their own, but I really think that docs these days push inductions on moms when they’re not medically necessary.

It’s a super personal choice. Are you willing to go to 42 weeks and then be induced bc baby possibly still isn’t ready? It sucks just not knowing if labor will eventually start on its own. I would be induced, not just bc doc is leaving but bc baby is done baking and I am done with pregnancy. I can’t breathe and my baby is already measuring 2-3 weeks ahead.

I’m on the same boat personally I love my doctor and can’t imagine her not delivering my baby after everything we’ve gone through so I will be induced before she leaves on her vacation.

I would do your research and look into all aspects of the induction and risks involved. I personally won’t be induced unless it is a medical emergency but everyone has a different opinion and must decide what’s best for them😊
