Opinions on cry it out method?

What age to start? Does it work?

The cry it out method is fucking awful and should never be used.

I tried it with my now 2 year old around a year old and he was about 10 months or maybe a little older and he just screamed for hours.. it never worked for us. But I do know some parents who had it work for them. It all depends on the child and your patience with the screaming intervals.

6 months is the earliest it should be used. 
We did a gentle version of it and it worked for us. Our son was already sleeping through the night though, just needed to work on putting himself to sleep. Only needed to do it for 2 nights, less than 15 minutes both nights.

Tbh my mom used the cry it out method with me and I remember being emotionally traumatized from the neglect. Then again she was probably just using it as an excuse to ignore me. Don’t ever think your child won’t remember things that happen to them. I remember way too much

We never let my daughter cry, once she cried her needs got met but when we would put her in bed she would just whine and fake it.

Started around 6 months with my son and it worked. He never cried more than 15 minutes and if he did we would give up for the night and try again the next night. He still woke up once a night until he was a year but I’d feed him and he’d go right back to sleep.

We did it at 6 months took few days & not alot of crying tbf but she had been sleeping though the night for 6-8 weeks prior to this so since about 4 months & shes now nearly 18 months & sleeping in cot bed no sides gets her own sippy cup & tells you its sleep time... wish I had tried this early with my 3rd son he was a nightmare till 2 😅😅 also doing great with potty training for only been little ❤

We did it at a little over 5 months. We had no choice because our son hit a horrible regression for over a month and was waking up every half hour and would only go back to sleep with us holding him. He ROCKED the sleep training and only ever cried for a max of 15 min. We learned that he just likes sleeping on his belly and that’s the only way he sleeps now. We were putting him down asleep on his back and never giving him a chance to roll to his belly if he wanted. 
Now, naps are a different story. If someone’s figured that part out, I’d love some tips 😅

We did the Ferber method around 5.5 months. It worked for us within a few days. She does still wake up once in the middle of the night for a feed but she goes right back to sleep.
