Hospital bag??

I’m a FTM and I’m wondering when’s a good time to pack the hospital bag? And, what are some essentials and what can be left home? Thank you!! 👶💕

I pack mine pretty early and add to it as I go 🤷🏻‍♀️ I pack shower stuff, phone charger, snacks for me and hubby - our hospital only serves food at certain times, pillow, outfit for baby to wear home. Last time I didn’t pack any clothes but this time I am packing a nursing bra/tank, a robe and some comfy pants so I don’t have to wear the hospital gown the whole time. And a huge refillable water bottle, I get super thirsty.

I packed for my first one around 38 weeks. I packed anything that would needed for a shower. (Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, brush, tooth paste, and tooth brush, and contact/glasses) 
A few changes of clothes (I stayed in the gown the whole time) 
A couple hair ties. 
Lotion!! 
Pillow and blanket 
Hubby packed:
Clothes for each day
A pillow and blanket 
Shower stuff 
Computer 
Phone charger
Snacks 
For baby we packed:
Sleepers 
2 onesies 
1 hair bow
Socks/ mittens 
Hat
Swaddle

My c section is scheduled in a week and i still need to pack mine 😅 soon tho! Im 38+4. Planned on doing it way sooner... oops 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pack it between 35 and 36 weeks...my recommendations as a soon to be third time mom are: 
-Blanket (hospital ones suck and I was freezing)
-Towel if you plan on showering at hospital, I did because well labor can be messy and hospital towels suck 
-travel size toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body was, deodorant, face was, toothpaste etc. things that you don’t like to live without in your routine) 
-change/cash for vending machines 
-zippered sweatshirt/sweater/robe hospitals get cold and if you plan to nurse you want something that is easy to open. Some women like to stay in hospitals gowns I do not.
-slippers to walk around in 
-nursing bras/tanks
-go home outfits (I prefer leggings with long baggy shirt) also extra clothes like oh pants (baggy) while in hospital
-cheap underwear I prefer high waisted 
-overnight pads for going home 
-hairties 
-Hair brush 
-Chapstick 
-car seat 
-chargers 
-baby items -going home outfit, blanket for pics
Etc. 
-call Your hospital and see if they have a nursing pillow, mine does so I won’t need to bring one. If you are also breastfeeding/pumping I would see
If they have a lactation consultant because some women get the wrong size breast shield and it can cause issues pumping.  
These are just my preferences. Some people pack barely anything and that is what they prefer. I always overpack plus I hate hospitals and want to be comfortable as best as I can.

I highly recommend packing your own comfy clothes! Nursing tank/ bra and a soft robe! I’m so mad at myself that I didn’t bring those. The hospital gown is uncomfortable and awkward. My nipples were raw from breastfeeding/latch issues and the scratchy hospital gown made it so much worse. 
Other than that, phone charger, phone, toothbrush, spare contacts. I didn’t need much, but I really regretted not having a soft comfy tank and robe.
