How much tummy time?

Hey ladies! How much tummy time in total should a 4 month old be doing a day? How many minutes for total day?

I give mine about 10-30 minutes depending when she gets agitated with it. She’s 4 months in 2 days :) it depends on how much your baby can handle. They usually start yelling when they’re tired, they can take a break & try again later in the day.

The Mayo Clinic says 20 minutes a day but more stuff counts as tummy time than just laying them flat on the floor such as laying on your chest while you're laying down if they hate just being on the floor. There are also special mats you can use or you can place toys around them. My daughter has an elephant that sings that she loves so I place that in front of her and keep hitting the button until she's over it.

I give my daughter as much as she'll tolerate. It's usually 10-15 minutes then I give her a break and prop her up for tummy time on the boppy pillow.
