Am I a baby???

Question

I had my last ultrasound today. (35w5d). Everything looks great and on track. Today was my first cervical check and I will continue to have them weekly until birth. I was checked for strep b, gonorrhea, and all.  Then I was checked for dilation. I'm 1 cm. My question is....am I the only one who finds the checks very uncomfortable. I tried so hard to relax, but couldn't.

No it hurts but you can deny getting checked, there’s really no need to until labor.

I agree, they can be so uncomfortable. Especially when your cervix is still hard.

I was in a car wreck at 37 weeks, and the doc on call did a cervical check, and it was excruciating!!! He was awful. When my regular doctor did it or when any of the labor nurses did it when I actually went into labor, it didn’t bother me. Some people are just bad at this, I think.

They are awful. Some of the worst pain I’ve ever felt was when the midwife checked me to break my waters

No you aren’t alone. One of my check was so painful that when my doctor offered to go back up and strip my membranes (I was desperate to be done with pregnancy at the time) I flat out refused because I was almost in tears at just a cervical check.

I found my gyno was really gentle with the checks but then my labor nurse huuuuurt me! 😩 I think it depends on who is doing it.
