Upset for no reason?

Hi ladies I just wanted input in to something that happened to me today. Just want to get different perspective on things. I call my partner my husband even though we’re not legally married. We have been together for 9 years, 2 kids, 2 houses, and we share a bank account. To me calling him my husband is about commitment we are both committed to each-other whether we have a legal paper or not. So I work with a couple of girls one of them mentioned something about her partner being her fake husband. I instantly new they were talking about me. So I ask her why is he your fake husband? So the other girl responds because they live together and share a family, so that’s her fake husband(this girl just moved in with this guy and they have been dating for a bout a year) So I get very irritated and tell them I don’t appreciate you guys having this conversation you can call your partner whatever you want I’ll call mine whatever I want. I was so emotional about it because I felt they were mocking our relationship. They go on to laugh about it. Which makes me even more emotional and I removed myself from the situation. I’m still very upset because I don’t see why anybody should comment or correct other people reference to their husband.
