Nose Piercing pain??

I got my nose pierced about a year ago, and it was hell.😂 I actually passed out, which is crazy because I’m covered in tattoos and piercings. It was infected for about a month. I finally got some medicine for it from a doctor when I went in for something else anyway and that calmed it down and it went away. Now, a year later, every time I change the nose ring it hurts so bad. It gets red and irritated for a few hours. When the ring is in I can pull on it and twist it like it’s nothing. I thought that maybe I was just doing it wrong but it’s literally every ring I try, no matter what shape or type. (Maybe I’m just doing all of them wrong) I do always make sure they’re the same size as the one it was pierced with though. It used to bleed a little every time I changed it, but now it doesn’t. It just hurts really bad and gets hot like it did the day I had it done. I only change them like once a month at the most. So I guess my question is, should I stop changing the rings and let it heal for longer?(I know nose piercings do take a while to heal) Or am I just definitely doing them all wrong?😂
