They say kids know when there's a baby on the way....
Do you have a story to share? I'd love to hear it! I just had my first experience with this (at least I'm assuming).
A couple I know have two sons (aged four and just shy of two). The second, Lochlyn, has never paid any attention to me at all. Not shy like Finn would get (for a long time he said I was his girlfriend but would get so bashful around me), Loch basically just barely knows I exist.
We stopped at their house to drop off something a few days ago while Finn was at his grandma's. Their dog always freaks out and barks for awhile till she realizes who we are, so while we were trying to get her to chill out (later she was sniffing and snuggling me since, of course, animals supposedly know too), Loch toddled silently over to me with this teddy bear that's almost as big as he is and holds it out to me (completely ignoring the dog and my husband who was next to me).
This was one of our first real interactions ever; I gushed over Teddy, thanked him and gave it a big hug, and he toddled away with his bottle, watching me over the back of the couch with this huge grin on his face. His mom said "that's his FAVORITE... He barely ever gives it up to ANYONE." He just seemed soooooo pleased when I told him how much I liked it.
He didn't say anything, just kept giving me this beautiful smile. It seemed so much like he wanted to share it with the baby and was so happy when he saw how happy I was. I completely melted. 😍
