Anxiety/antidepressant meds experiences?

I have bad anxiety and depression and going to talk to my doctor about trying something for it. Please comment which one you have been on and how you liked it/didn't like it, your experiences with it. Or anything thats not on the list that you'd recommend instead

Find a doctor that does GeneSight testing, it’s a cheek swab test that they send in to see what medications work best for you.

I've been on all of them and I stayed on wellbutrin. That worked best for me, but honestly your body chemistry is different than mine so you may have a different experience. Trial and error unfortunately is the only way.

Celexa helped me a loooot woth my depression and anxiety. Im very very thankful I found this post because I could not for the lif of me remember what the he'll it was called and im trying to find a threrapist right now in a new area and I wanted to male sure i was back on that.

I’ve been on many different meds for the depression and anxiety. I’m currently taking Effexor and Xanax, they seem to be working ok for the time being. The lexapro made me gain weight.

I’ve tried all of them at one point and zoloft helped the most with anxiety for me.

I was on Zoloft for postpartum depression for a few months and it helped me a lot. I could feel the effects within just a few days. I actually felt the edge come off later that same day when I took it first. I hear that’s faster than most people, though. But it helped the chemical imbalances and helped me get through the everyday while everything was stabilizing. I had significant trouble sleeping the first night. Could not sleep for 5 hours straight. Almost went nuts because the thing that was supposed to help was making it so I couldn’t sleep—with a newborn! But it got better within a couple days and I made sure to take it in the mornings. I had a good experience with this medication. It was relatively smooth weaning off it as well.

I was on Wellbutrin, celexa, Prozac and ability all at once from the age of 11 to the age of 18 when I took myself off of all of them. Honestly my experience was pretty terrible, I either felt sick, tired, or numb all of the time. I hated being on medication and am much happier now that I'm not on anything. My doctor wouldn't change anything since technically they were doing their job, I didn't have symptoms of depression anymore. 
Your experience will be unique to you since your brain chemistry is different from all of ours, so it may work differently for you.

I had citalopram and it made me so anxious and depressed! It made things so much worse for me but that’s just a personal experience!

I've been on BUSPAR(Buspirone) my entire pregnancy and it has worked out great. Not a single panick attack and overall much better feeling mentally/emotionally than before I was pregnant and just taking Xanax. I have had no side effects with this medication, also.
