Due April 2020, when to arrange doctors?

We’ve just had our BFP and baby is due April 2020! This is our first so a little clueless to it all. When do we need to arrange a doctors appointment/when will I be able to have a scan as we want to have a bit of reassurance before we tell family

Here in Norfolk you can now register your pregnancy through the hospital website and the midwife will send you a letter for a booking appointment which is about 9/10 weeks
Be aware neither midwives nor doctors do a pregnancy or blood tests as standard if you’re waiting for that before telling people
12 week scan will be the first ‘real thing’

You usually have your booking apt around 9-10 weeks then first scan at 12 weeks. Congratulations!! Xx

Nhs forth valley we contact midwife directly at hospital. Check your local nhs/hospital website, it’ll let you know who to contact and will have more information about their procedures.

I went to the doctors and he sent me to the midwife at 4 weeks but that was because I have PCOS, the midwife then referred me to the hospital and I had booking in with them at 8 weeks ☺️ also there are places you can have private scans, I had one at 7 weeks as I’d had a previous misscarriage and the anxiety was too much! you have to pay but it’s defo worth it for peace of mind!

Where we are you contact the midwives direct and they sort out the booking in visit someone else mentioned. Local nhs website might help.
