When do babies stop needing that extra layer?

Question

So the rule for newborns is to dress them in as many layers as you plus one. When does that stop being the case and you no longer need the extra vest?

My daughter generally wears a vest and T-shirt and she’s 11 months
If it’s really warm, I do just one layer

Every child is completely different. Look at your baby and see if they're too hot or cold. Are they sweating? Is their neck or chest warm or cold? Are the hands sweaty or are they cold? Is baby very fussy? 
I don't really remember when it was with my kids exactly, but my first was born during a heatwave. It was 35-40 degrees Celsius. She was mostly in a nappy all day, every day. 
My second was born in may, so she had one layer more for a month or two. She had very severe excema as a baby and sweating would always make it worse. So she was also alway just in a nappy from 1-2 months old while it was hot. 
My third was born in march and had good skin. I don't think she was ever just in a nappy in summer. She had one layer more than me for much longer than the others. 
Now I'm due in September. Either there will still be a heatwave and he'll be in nappy too, or summer is over by the time he's here and he'll be in one layer more than me for the first year, most likely.

I’d say up to a year if the baby turns one just before summer e.g Feb/March but up to 18 months of baby is born around August (if that makes sense)

My little girl 9months I still put a vest on her unless it’s a hot day like today she’s just in her normal outfit. Really depends how warm it is outside or inside and how warm baby is, you just have to judge no set time limit when to stop using vests. 😊 both my boys used vest till 18months especially in the winter.
