When you get blood drawn, do they ask you if you are okay?

I absolutely HATE needles, but I have been getting my blood drawn a lot more lately due to fertility issues. I'm trying to get used to it and not let it bother me. I try to sit there and be relaxed and act totally normal, but the technician always asks me if I'm alright right after they stick the needle in.

I'm wondering if, even though I think I look normal, I actually still look really uncomfortable, or if they just ask everyone that.
