*** POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING ABOUR ORGAN DONATION ***

So it’s been on my mind for some time. I lost my grandad to a massive heart attack while waiting for a heart transplant when I was 12. It’s been on my mind on and off since then, about how I could save a life after I’ve passed away if I became an organ donor.

But since my first midwife appointment she asked would I accept a blood transfusion if I needed one in labour etc. I said yes. Now I’m already signed up to be a blood donor, but I have tattoos often, so I usually can’t do it when it’s in my area and the one time I could I was on holiday, so I’ve never actually got round to it🤦🏼‍♀️

I’ve been toying with the idea of signing myself up to become an organ donor. But my parents are trying their best to put me off. They keep saying things like “why would you want someone to chop you up when your dead, that’s your time to be at peace and rest” and I do get that, the thought kind of makes me cringe. But imagine the thought of saving someone’s life. Someone’s loved one, someone’s daughter or son etc.

I just don’t know what to do. Wondering if you guys could tell me some pros and cons? And if your a donor or not🙃
