When does cradle cap go away?

Question

I oil her scalp with coconut oil every other day (she doesn’t have much hair), but I don’t brush it or try and remove the scales. I’d rather leave it alone and wait for it to improve on its own.
Does that work? Does it take a long time?
She is 19weeks

You do need to brush it off it won’t just fall off. Boiling it first is a great start!

I noticed my son had cradle cap around 2 or 3 months old, I didn’t do anything special, no oils, lotions nothing like that, I gave him a bath every night (our routine) and i would wash his hair and let the soap sit for a few minutes, then I would rinse and use a fine tooth comb and just comb out the loose stuff. It took a couple months and it went away on its own.

Everytime I gave my daughter a bath I'd get her hair wet, put soap on and use her soft bristle brush and rub it around for like 3 minutes. Give it a good rinse then just put regular lotion on. It cleared up in 3 days completely. Also, coconut oil isnt good for the skin fyi.

You will need to brush it off. My son’s went away pretty quickly. We applied baby oil after baths then brushed it all out as his hair was drying. It took maybe a couple days.

I gently scrubbed it off with the little brush and a little baby wash. Took a total of three baths to get rid of it all. My babe is six weeks old now and it’s never come back.
