How did you decide?

How are you deciding what formula to use? I plan on breastfeeding but due to medical issues I may have to go on medication that prevents me from being able to. So which formula and why?

I found it to be a lot of trail and error finding one that agreed with babys tummy. In the end we stuck with enfamil. I also loved that they had "to go" packs with premeasured formula, all I needed was to toss a couple in the diaper bag and pack a bottle of warm water. I didn't have to worry about mixing bottles ahead of time and worrying about them spoiling before they were used or made it to a refrigerator.

We had a hard time Bc our first had bad reflux. We tried so many. We ended up with Gerber gentle. Formula has changed so much in 2 years. Now there are really good organinc, non-gmo formulas. I hope to have more luck breastfeeding this time, but if I can't I will be trying the newer organic formulas.

Well it's kinda tricky because you have to find a formula that is just right for your baby. If your baby spits up a lot more or becomes constipated then you know it's not the right one for them. Once you find the right one stick with it unless it starts to be bad for them :) take into consideration cost but don't let it be solely what you pick your formula by! 
I was in the same situation as you, planned to BF & due to complications, meds & an emergency c section I couldn't. By the time I was done with meds a month later I had basically dried up & my baby didn't want to latch. 
I have my baby on Enfamil but I have to buy the big tub weekly so I might switch him to a formula that's been recommended to me by tons of moms by now - the Costco one! It's huge & price is better :) but I don't know, making the switch is scary to me 😁

We used generic similac. We started with premade enfamil which was fine and continued into powder but the powder smelt like garbage so we tried the similac sample. Similac smelt better but had a lot of foam causing gas. We heard generic didn't do that. Tried BJs generic similac and it smelt like vanilla with no foam and helped a ton with her gas.
