Who’s to use...

So my husband and I are picking out names and we came across a bump in our road...

I want to use my step father’s name (Matthew) as a middle name for our son. My step father raised me and has been there for me since I was 15 months old. I was calling him daddy as soon as I met him and my mother has been married to him for 18 years. When people ask who my dad is I say Matthew.

Now my biological father (Richard) has been pretty scarce in my life. Popping in every now and again. Sends money sometimes to make up for lost time and such. He’s an alcoholic and when I was 12 years old he got into drugs really bad and I wasn’t allowed to see him but I didn’t want to because of that. Now I’m 20 and married and try to have baby and my biological dad is no longer using drugs and we are starting to have a relationship again since I’m an adult and the past is the past. I didn’t even tell him I got married so he’s never met my husband. But now I’m conflicted.

Would it be wrong to use the name Matthew after the man that stepped up and raised me even though I’m starting to have a real relationship with my biological father Richard?

Would you be worried about how your biological father would react if you named a child after your step father?

I just want some opinions. Which would you use?
