Am I crazy?

I just wanted to get married at the courthouse. I use to want a wedding but now I would rather go on a trip! My friend just had a baby to and see is having a 600 person wedding! It hurt my feels because my friend said only poor people get married at the courthouse. And she said we weren’t poor and we are being selfish not having something to celebrate with friends and family. But that’s not what i want! Lol plus all my family and friends live all over! It’s to hard to get them together!

Me and my husband are well off. He owns 2 business but is super shy with crowds. So we decided on a court house wedding. 🤷🏼‍♀️ my sister had a huge wedding and she regrets spending all the money on it. Everyone my age who just got married has told me they wish they would have just went to the court house or had a small backyard family only wedding. It’s just a wedding to me, it’s the rest of your life that matters

No, I got married at a courthouse. My husband and I chose to because it cost a whole lot less. We had our court ceremony and then went out to dinner with our family. I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

I got married at the courthouse and I’m not poor lol I too had the same thoughts you had.  I’d rather spend the money on a trip or else where. I didn’t need others to validate my marriage but to each it’s own.

My fiancé wants a courthouse wedding. I wanted a traditional wedding. We both love to travel. 
So, my compromise was a small wedding where my grandparents live. It’s by the beach so it’d make it a honeymoon/wedding. We were just going to invite my grandparents and both our parents. However, my grandma started inviting more people. But it’s still small. 
Maybe you could do something like that? 
Or... do whatever the hell you want! It’s your day, not your friend’s! There’s nothing wrong with a courthouse wedding, if that’s what you want! Only reason we’re not doing that is because I know I’d feel sad about not having an actual wedding.

We eloped to the Bahamas then had a small party at our house for friends and family. You do what you want, I don’t see how that is selfish to other people.
