Do I have the right to be upset?

I dated my ex boyfriend for 6 years from the age of 15-21. We practically grew up together. I did something I deeply regret and cheated on him a few times with the same guy. Well I confessed to my sister and my sister told my boyfriend what I’d done. This strained my sister and i’s relationship forever. Well it’s been a year later, my (ex) boyfriend broke up with me and I haven’t spoken to him at all and I’ve just found out through family members that my sister is dating my ex boyfriend and has been for 6 months and he apparently is in love with her and vice versa. Apparently after she told on me they grew really close. I am devastated and pissed. My mom basically told me I have no right to be upset because I cheated on him thus throwing away the relationship. am I right to be pissed?

I think no matter what you did everyone is entitled to their own feelings. So however you feel is okay. The whole situation is shitty. I would feel super weird if my sister got with any of my exs no matter the circumstance, but its something you need to eventually let go and realize everything happens for a reason you just may not see it yet.

Honestly, no you don't really have the right.
If you cheated ONCE it could boil down to a lapse in judgement, a mistake. But the fact that you did it a few times is really just disrespectful to your now ex boyfriend.
You should have told your ex, not your sister. He shouldn't have heard via the grapevine.
However, I would question if your sister told him specifically to break you two up so she could have him. But at the same time, wouldn't you want to know if someone had cheated on you, no matter who it came from?

He deserved to know. You cheated multiple times. You can be upset if you want, nobody can tell someone they are wrong for feeling a certain way. But he still deserves to be happy.

Honestly, I would never do that to my sister (the getting with her ex part). You can feel however you want they didn’t do anything wrong. It sucks that you have to live with what you did to this extreme but hopefully it will teach you something for future relationships. That’s the only bright side I can see for you.

You feel however you want to feel... but i can see how a relationship developed between them and if they love eachother, there is nothing you can do about it. Just learn from your mistakes and realise actions have consequences/ripple effects.

I don't know what her motivation was, but she did the right thing by telling him. Personally I would have come to you first and told you to tell him or I would. I think you are in the wrong on all counts. You cheated. You are the one that ended the relationship. And your sister was in the awkward position of being caught in the middle. Take responsibility for your actions and apologize to both of them. You are only hurting yourself by holding on to this resentment.
