Saying no to visitors?

Is anyone else being bombarded with visitors now that they're pregnant? We live across the country from our family, and suddenly everyone wants to come see us. I feel like a circus sideshow that everyone wants to get a glimpse at.

I put my foot down and said no more visitors, but my FIL booked a trip anyways (so considerate). Now my mom is insisting on coming out since she found out my FIL is coming. We don't have many weekends before the baby comes, and I really just want to enjoy this time alone with my husband. I've tried to communicate that over and over again, but I feel like I keep getting railroaded. And the most annoying part is that I feel guilty when I tell people no.

This situation is difficult becuase these people are coming from other places, so it's a special kind of hell when you say no to instant, rude visitors. If it were me, I personally don't enjoy visiting with anyone in family for more than 1-4 hrs MAX. If someone tried to force themselves into my schedule, I'd simply plan dates together (as a couple), and say i needed rest and felt unwell to fill the gaps of time in between. If they inquired as to why we hsd personal stuff they weren't invited to, I'd simply tell them that i expressed that I didn't have time for visits and they are the ones that chose to come anyways. But. Everyone seems to think I'm kind of bitchy. So, I'm not sure what advice is good! I'm sorry you're having to deal with this! It's incredibly disrespectful.

As long as they're bearing gifts and know how to get lost and be low key, low maintenence house guest that have a definite departure date. I'm OK I guess.  But also I don't consider family 'guest'. Like I'm not really cooking and cleaning up behind you.  If you're in the house you are contributingin one way or another.

My father in law has his own plane and flies clear across the country to see us all the time... No warning... Drives me crazy!!!!!!!

Perhaps ask anyone who is willing to make the unsolicited trip to stay at a hotel or make other arrangements besides your home? Just explain that as much as you appreciate them, your home will be off limits until further notice because you will more thank likely get even more visitors after the baby is born

Lol well atleast you are loved. Not even my SO has come to visit... Lucky I live with my niece and sister. So I have people to talk to most days.
