Pissed off momma chicken

Disclaimer: domesticated chickens are not like wild animals. You can move their nests. Where their eggs go they will follow.

If you saw my post you’d know that I found out 2 of my moms chickens are trying to hatch the entire flocks offspring so they were sitting on too many eggs and couldn’t keep them all warm and everyday the other hens are going into their nests and laying more eggs and because of this they’re all at different stages in gestation.

I am taking the freshly laid eggs out now everyday.

I found out why they are having such a hard time actually hatching anything. there is a 3rd hen that is eating their eggs. I decided to move them to another coop that has bigger nesting boxes so one hen could sit on all of her eggs without leaving so many out that get cold and die from exposure or being eaten. The “bad egg eating hen” is sitting on the edge of their nests waiting for the exposed eggs. She will lose an eye if she tries to go under the hen for her eggs so she sits and waits for one to pop up out from under one of the hens. I gathered all her eggs out from under her and wrapped them in my shirt.

The moment she realized there was no more eggs under her she 🤣🤣I swear to got she turned around and let out a low pitched “bawwwwck”

I turned around and quickly started moving and when I turned to look back 🤣 I felt fear as that pissed momma chicken is catching up. *cue jaws music* boy she is mad. She’s fluffed up to look bigger and is ready to fight me. I quickly sat the eggs down and picked up momma chicken and showed her the nest and she saw her eggs and sat right back down on them and pecked me. At least now she won’t have her eggs eaten right behind her back, and she can sit on all of them. Maybe they’ll actually hatch now.

I’m still laughing at how that went down lol she was comin to get her kids back
