Why is it?

When you do your research on something and you provide someone with studies and statistics, they completely act like it isn't true or they just don't acknowledge it altogether but if it's the other way around and they provide you with the the statistics and studies proving their point, then you better believe and listen to every word they says. I see that a lot, even in every day life. It's so exhausting and annoying. It's like only the studies and statistics matter if it's helpful for them.

No one likes to admit when they are wrong but love to rub it in your face when the are right.

I mean what is a valid source Anyways? You have tons of professionals who say one thing and then a ton of other professionals that say another. Then you have all the professionals saying one thing only to have people completely go against it. It is very much exhausting.

For instance the cry it out method, you have medical doctors and professionals like dr Ferber who specializes in controlled crying. He's the obviously a professional and knows what he's doing and it works for some, but on the other hand, you have professionals who are against it, that obviously know what their doing as well. It's a vicious cycle.

I'll admit when I am wrong. I will even agree when they are right. But even if you do agree they act like they still have an attitude and are still trying to prove you wrong. It's hilarious.

In terms of research it depends on where you get it from. I've had someone straight up tell me the research I found was bullshit. Even had someone say "did you just seriously copy that from (insert source) and I'm like yes. It proves my argument. But with any debate there are pros and cons. So it really depends on what you are talking about. There are things that are definite and things that are debatable.

Maybe because depending on the situation, doing all that research just to prove your point over something small can be considered annoying. When someone is constantly trying to prove you wrong, simply refuting because you're sick of it can give you the satisfaction of frustrating the "know-it-all." I've refused to accept another's persons arguments, even if I know they're right, simply because they were so disrespectfully pushy with proving thier point.

Not saying this is what is happening but its a possibility.

It depends on the source of said facts/statistics. If in a debate, I'm backing my information with recent, respected studies and the other person is using Encarta 95, their point suffers.
