Traveling with carsick dog. Advice would be appreciated🥵🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I live in South Carolina on the coast and am evacuating to a family members house more inland about 40 minutes away because of hurricane Dorian. Only issue is I will be traveling with my dog who gets car sick. She hasn’t been in a car for months so I definitely feel like this will get to her easily. I recently got a new car that is more of a smaller suv style and am hoping I can fit her 36 inch crate in my trunk behind the seat and door so I can keep her in there and not have to worry about the cage sliding or bumping around. Would putting her in her crate maybe make her feel more safe in a car? Also I was thinking about throwing a blanket over it and only leaving the front part of her crate open to see out, could that help her feel more secure or just make it worse? Dramamine is my last resort, I’ve used it one other time with her but I also want to try and make it as comfortable as possible for her. If her crate doesn’t fit I’ll have to put the backseats down and figure out a way to secure the cage and make sure it doesn’t slide. She doesn’t really play with toys, she’s a rescue dog and doesn’t really know how to play and act like a full dog, so putting toys in there with her may not help but I plan to anyways. Any advice would help. It’s not a huge issue if she throws up because she will have blankets in her crate, but it would be one less thing for me to worry about and have to clean up😬
