Should getting payment for a project be a SALES or PROJECTS function?
Please help settle this argument between myself, my manager and my boss.
I'm a project manager- I get involved with a project when it's time to schedule installation, order stock, etc. Our company policy is to obtain a hardware deposit before work commences.
My manager and I both believe that getting said deposit is a SALES function, whereby my boss says it's a PROJECTS function.
I don't believe it's my job to ask for money, as the job card should only come to me when we're ready to rock and roll with the job. The quote was issued by the sales manager, the client has been dealing with the sales manager and then all of a sudden some new person comes and asks for money?
Who is right- my manager and myself, or my boss?
