Is this normal?

Alright ladies I’m having a problem. Small details here but I normally use clitoral masturbation and I’ve never really tried fingering because it’s never really been comfortable, well yesterday I’d tried to finger in the shower cause I figured well I’ve got lots of lube with the water but once I stuck my finger up I had to move around chunks of skin that were actually attached to me... I’ve always thought that when you stick something up that hole (sorry for not knowing the technical term) that it was a straight shot! I should also note that it was very painful and I couldn’t do it and that I’m a virgin. Should I go to the doctor or is this normal?
