Constipated baby?

Is there anything you ladies have tried that helped a constipated baby poop? He drinks both formula and breastmilk from bottle. He breastfeeds but milk is decreasing and nipples are in pain.

Try with the belly rubs and bicycling first, but if all else fails, my pediatrician said to use the old thermometer trick. Get a bit of vaseline on the thermometer and then insert a bit of it into the rectum (not too far!). Circle the thermometer around a few times and then wait. I have only had to do this twice. You don't want to do it too often, as you want their muscles to learn how to push.

You can try belly rubs and bicycle kicks. I've heard tummy time or vibration (from a bouncer or swing) can help some babies with constipation too.

Most pediatricians day not to worry until it had been five days without a bowel movement as last by as there are pee diapers every day. But you need to call the pediatrician before giving a one month old anything. And maybe switch formulas.

Call his pediatrition and ask - they may be able to help. If he is constipated then the formula he is recieving may not be a good fit for him and they should be able to reccomend something. My best suggestion would be to try and give him only breastmilk if you can for the next few days. I realize this may not be possible, though, based on what you said.
