Would it bother you if your SO lied about petty things?

I always find out about little things my fiancé has lied to me about. It honestly bothers me and I don’t know why he does it. Is it not easier to just tell the truth? 
Ex. I found out he is still smoking cigarettes occasionally even after he swore he stopped.
Or he didn’t actually message his son to remind him to bring clothes. It’s stupid stuff like why can’t we just tell the truth??

Yup. Broke up with a guy over it. At first I didn’t even notice the lies, because they were THAT petty. No rhyme or reason... just mundane things like things he had done or places he’d been.

Absolutely, someone who lies to you about small this will lie to you about big things. It makes them untrustworthy

I’d say something because like the other person who commented her said little lies turn into big lies , basically people will try to get away with what they think they can if you are not ok with him lying to you constantly then call him out and explain how you feel about it, even if he can’t admit  that he lied to your face he will know that he can no longer do that to you, and hopefully he doesn’t.

The way I describe my ex husband. This man would look you in the face and swear up and down a blue pen was black if it somehow benefitted him. Little lies become big lies. Very quickly.

If someone will lie about dumb things that don't matter, then why wouldn't they lie about the things that are hard to say? 🤷‍♀️

Being with someone who did and sometimes still does this, sadly little lies does mean they probably keep bigger ones, I found that out the hard way. 
Saying that, they can unlearn that behaviour and be better if they want too, only if they are the error behind it though

Yes, it would bother me if he felt the need to lie. Anyone close to me knows I don’t like conflict and I’m a very understanding person. Some people get so upset over little things so I do understand why people sometimes lie, but it breaks my heart when people don’t test ME with the truth. Im always honest, even when I’m scared of how people will react. I don’t expect everyone to always be honest with me but definitely the people closest to me.

Why lie about dumb things?  Its A habit. Wonder what big things they lie about. Can't ever trust what they say.

Honestly the cigarettes I understand getting angry at a little. He only does it occasionally and not making a habit of it again so I personally wouldn’t have a problem. However I don’t understand how you can get angry about him messaging his son about clothes.
