Where does your toddler sleep?

My girl is going to be 3 next month and I think we will finally transition her crib into the toddler bed (it came w that kit). She seems happy in the crib but it seems like developmentally we should probably move her along. Anyone have thoughts / experience with this? I am not looking forward to having her free to roam around.

We transitioned to a queen mattress on the floor just before she turned 2. I was ready to buy a video baby monitor and thought I was going to have to put her back into bed multiple times, but none of it ever happened. We just talked to her about it and she stays. Just include her in the process and explain everything even if you don’t think she’ll understand. We also talked about how everyone sleeps in their own bed and stays there all night. We do have an audio baby monitor so she can call out if she needs to go potty and she knows that. 
She is now in a queen mattress on a bed frame. We transitioned early because she never had a crib, only a pack and play with a mattress and she was growing out of it. Went straight to a queen bed simply to save money in the long run. This bed will take her through high school instead of buying toddler then queen later.

We transitioned to a toddler bed in March when we moved since she was starting to climb out. I thought we’d have a problem with her getting out, but ironically we have the opposite problem; she won’t get out until someone comes to get her... even if we call to her to come to our room she won’t get out or to use the potty in her room 🤷‍♀️ Going to bed is a whole other story, that’s when it’s a game... balancing and jump off the toddler bed rail... bed time definitely takes longer, but I guess I can’t complain too much since she sleeps through the night

There is no rush. Our pediatrician says as long as they are being safe in the crib there's no need to hurry to the toddler bed.

Twin bed and has since he stopped sleeping in his pack n play and honestly he ended up in my bed most nights up until he was 2. Right before he turned two we transitioned him into his own room and bed with a twin. He’s also a bigger than the average almost 3 year old so twin made more sense for us.

My son turns 3 on 10/6 and he is still in a crib. I keep thinking about when we should transition him but he does so well in it and doesn’t try to climb out. We also had a miscarriage almost a month ago, so there’s no real reason to move him to a bigger bed yet besides the age factor. I’m thinking we will do it within the next 6 months though

I was so amazed that mine stayed put. He literally will not leave the bed until we get him in the morning. 😂 We has a false start where he didn’t listen to our instructions to stay in the bed so we went back to the crib and waited a couple months before trying again and voila!

We transitioned to a twin bed a few months before our second was born. At the same time we got an ok to wake clock and told her she couldn’t get out of bed unless it was green. (Now she can get out only to go potty). It has been great for building her independence!

We switched a couple months ago for the same reason as a few others-need to get the crib ready for a baby coming in December and wanted to give it plenty of time before he comes! She did really well, only once got out on her own and just came straight into our room when she did. 3 ish seems to be a good age for the switch! I’m not sure how aware she is that she can just get out at any time, ha! I make sure to come to her if she wakes up at night and needs me too (luckily this is only every once in a while), so that way she knows I’ll always come to her and she has no reason to get up.

We transitioned to a twin bed in March. I  was pregnant (lo is 9 weeks old) and knew we were going to need the crib for baby. We wanted to transition my almost 3 year old out as soon as possible so he didn't feel like he was getting kicked out of his crib. We bought a twin bed and frame. But we did not buy a box spring. Instead we put a piece of plywood on the frame and the mattress on that. That way when he falls out it's not that far. He learned pretty quickly to sleep on a twin with no rails.  He also stays in the bed no problem.  He always waits for permission to get out of the bed. Its pretty awesome.
