Exclusively Pumping Questions

FTM here, so I’m sorry if my questions are stupid. I only want to pump. I want my husband and parents to be able to feed our baby and enjoy the time, and help is always appreciated when needing a break! Is it possible to strictly pump? Does the hospital let you do that or do they immediately stick the baby right on you? I have heard from friends that the nurses will make you breastfeed at the hospital instead of pumping. If anyone has strictly pumped, I’d love to hear your experience. I know it is a lot of work, but this is something I am more comfortable doing and prefer.
