Cottage cheese discharge but not yeast infection?

So recently, my vagina has been burning lately...to the point where I can’t even wear underwear because it’s so irritated. I had sex with my boyfriend and notice a large amount of cottage cheese like discharge and immediately got embarrassed because that’s never happened to me before. I started to smell it but it had no scent so I’m like what the fuck is this? It has to be a yeast infection. So today i go to the doctor and she’s like that’s definitely not a yeast infection...now I’m confused because what could it be?! My boyfriend said the same thick discharge is coming out his penis as well with a slight burn and I’m just really freaking out because now he might have whatever I have! I won’t be the results back for a week but yet I’m in pain 😩. My boyfriend went to the doctor this morning as well so hopefully he gets his results back sooner because I’m on edge. Anybody have any idea what this could be?
