Is it up to my mom to choose who I date?

Alright y’all... little backstory here.

I’m 19. Just recently got out of a 2 year relationship with an absolute scum bag about a month ago. He never took me out, didn’t have a job, lazy as hell, never treated me good.

{Disclaimer} I do everything my mom asks of me. I do chores around the house, my room is the only one that stays clean compared to my two sisters (I’m the middle). My older sister is at college. When she was my age my parents let her fly across the country to spend a week with her college boyfriend. My sister never does ANYTHING she’s asked to do but she still gets to do anything and everything she wants.

Now I have this guy-friend who ive known for 3 years, never hung out with him like only with groups of friend. Well he started talking to me... he’s 23. I still live with my mom and she’s mad at me cause she’s afraid I’m gonna get in trouble or something. She’s treating me like I’m 16 again!! I’ve never done anything to make her so protective over me. She’s trying to use his age as an excuse? I dont know what to do in this situation. He’s so amazing to me and treats me so much better than I ever have been treated. He makes me so happy and my mom doesn’t see that. We’re going out with friends on Sunday and after that I plan on dropping the ball on my mom like suck it up I’m gonna date who makes me happy. Any advice on how I should do this/what I should do?
