The yelling needs to stop

I’m so frustrated today. Just like any day that I say what I feel needs to be said. If my husband senses any criticism at all, he loses his shit.

I recently slipped in our bathroom and sustained major injuries. That was a little over a month ago and I’m still healing. Our tile gets very slick when wet. Today he told me to be careful because he got it kind of wet after his shower. A bit later I really had to get to the bathroom fast, and the only way to get to it was to pass where he said it was slick. I really thought, after everything we’ve been through this month, he would’ve dried up the water.

But he didn’t.

It was super slick and extremely unsafe. After I used the restroom I dried it all up and went into the living room. In a very calm voice I said “hey, we really need to make sure we dry up any water on that tile. It’s really unsafe, especially because my leg still isn’t stable”.

He literally loses it. Yelling, throwing his brand new iPhone, throwing the remote control, hitting the table with his fists. Telling me “you don’t appreciate all that I’ve done for you for the last month. You don’t think I know how important it is? You came in here just to scold me and get onto me because I’m not fucking perfect”. It went on for a while. I asked him to stop because our dogs were scared (shaking, tail down, cowering) and he continued, telling me he didn’t give a fuck. I came to the bedroom and he continued raging from the other room while I tried to console our dogs.

He’s not a bad husband or bad person, but any time he feels like I’m criticizing him, this is a similar response I get.

He has some mental problems he’s been working on, but he still refuses to get a full evaluation done and get on meds. But his anger is wearing me down. After 10 years i just don’t know how much longer i can hang.

He’s never physically harmed me, the dogs, or anyone else. I’m not remotely worried about that. I’m just really annoyed with all this yelling.
