How do you make a kid care?
First and foremost, this is most likely going to sound like a venting post but it’s not, I swear, I’m just so over everything and have no idea what else to do. I’ve considered taking our WiFi password off her computer and tablet but that’s really all we can do before just taking everything away.
My step daughter is so irresponsible. We have to remind her to do chores and she also doesn’t listen. Her mother said she doesn’t do chores at her house either so she just quit telling her to do them. We went to a sporting event last week and a week ago, I gave her money for the concession stand and said to give me the change back because I had to leave, she said, “okay! I will!” I asked her about it tonight and she said, “I don’t have it. They didn’t give me any change....” well, when we go, they always give change. She said, “I asked what they did with it and told them they could have it.” 😡 I said, “really?! It’s not yours, so you don’t care, right?” She said, “what are you gonna do with what, like, 50¢?” we told her, “well, actually if you could be responsible, you were going to be allowed to keep it...” she said, “well, too late now....” and we ALWAYS have to remind her to do chores or she won’t do them. We’ve told her we’d give her allowance if she does them....nothing. We’ve even given our son money for doing his chores in front of her, she said, “ohhh HE gets money but I don’t?!” Her dad said, “well, if you’d do your flipping chores like you’re supposed to, you’d get money, too. He earns his just like you would.” Then she gets mad when she wants something and we ask where her money is. Her dad/my husband recently got sick of her mouth and attitude and told her she will get no electronics when she’s here next....she said, “ok.” With an 🤷🏻♀️ attitude. We recently got her an article of clothing, I told her I wanted to make sure it fit ok before she just took the tags off....I was doing laundry earlier and saw it in her laundry hamper. I brought it up to her and she said, “it fit...so I wore it.” ..... her sports uniform, she won’t willingly get it for me, I have to ask her to get it for me. I asked if she wants to just stink at games and have a wrinkly uniform, she said, ‘no, not really...’ so I informed her to make sure she gets it for me out of her bag to wash...and I STILL have to remind her to get it out for me.
I mean, gosh, I love the girl, I’m just so frustrated with everything lately. Her attitude feels nothing shy of full force the night before she goes back to her mothers house.
