Sign at local parks about dogs and religion

I’ve been debating how I can post this topic for days now. I don’t want it to come across wrong so I have blacked out some of the text.

This sign was posted in the local community parks in an area close to us. I heard they were also put in mailboxes. People have exploded with outrage over this sign.

Basically it’s saying keep your dogs away from us because in our religion dogs are filthy. This sign occurred in BC, Canada.

Personally I think you should keep your dogs away from me regardless of my religion. I love dogs but I hate it when I’m out and someone dog jumps up on me. I like to approach animals on my own terms so I understand the desire to not want a dog off leash. There are places for that.

But what do you think? Was using religion offside? Is this sign offensive?
