Am I wrong?

My mother in law doesn't have a license, registration for the vehicle she has, or any kind of insurance. She tries to make us feel guilty because we won't bring our daughter to see her because her boyfriend smokes in the house.  I don't feel like I should compromise my daughter's health because she can't be an adult. (Money isn't an issue. She simply has no reason why she hasn't gotten those things done.)

Have you guys told her it’s because of the smoke. As a child of a smoker, you’re 100% in the right here. It’s disgusting and so bad for health.

We have the same issue with my husband’s grandma. She doesn’t get around well because she’s overweight. She’s invited us over several times and always reminds us we’re always welcome. Usually it’s actually some snarky comment like “well, come see me...but I know you won’t”. I will never allow my child into a smoke filled home. Period. I’m perfectly okay with being the bad guy. Unfortunately she misses out on a lot and my daughter doesn’t know who she is really...but that’s the consequence of her actions, she chooses to smoke in her home. She chooses not to take care of herself. I’m not putting my child’s health in a compromising position to please her. If it’s nice outside my husband will occasionally take our daughter to visit and they’ll play outside, but that’s it.

Let her know that she is welcome to come to your house to see the baby since the baby will not be going to her house and that is the end of the discussion. Don't entertain it if she tries to keep bringing it up.

Don't know the full story but not having a DL doesn't make someone not an adult. 
I am 34 and don't have a DL.
As for the smoking,that's a no from me. No child should be around that.

Okay so she doesn’t drive because she doesn’t have I license or..? As far as that goes you cant make her get a license or insurance so that’s completely on her. I barely let my own mother hold my daughter because she smokes so I completely understand that part. If they can’t be bothered to make the trip if you don’t feel comfortable at their home then they don’t obviously care as much as they say.

I don’t have my license. But the whole smoking thing is a big no for me. Your baby’s health comes first. She wants to see your daughter so bad, there are plenty of ways for her to go about doing so.

We don’t have the whole story, but it doesn’t sound like she’s a responsible adult. And smoking is a hell no from me, regardless of the other stuff.
