Meeting My Bundle of Joy! Long Birth Story!
Finally getting around to writing my birth story right before another feeding. This is going to be very long and extensive so if you read this wow!
Well it all started last year when I had an ectopic pregnancy. I never even knew or imagined how hard it was to get pregnant until I experienced it myself. Well in October of last year my husband & I saw a fertility doctor & we started the test. There was nothing wrong with him & not much wrong with me besides a closed tube from the ectopic. Well he prescribed one round of letazole(if I spelled that right) & I got pregnant right away.
Well I was super concerned always!! I analyzed every single thing during my pregnancy! I had countless lack of fetal movement calls & I constantly made sure my little man was okay. Well at 30weeks they said I had a ton of protein in my urine & my pressures were elevated. Well induction was in the plan at 37weeks. Well 36weeks came around & I got a call that I was scheduled for my induction Monday September 23rd @8:30am at 37weeks & 2days.
The excitement began! I finished working the Friday before & the nerves were there! I was super excited but nervous about induction. Well Monday comes & we get there right at 8:30 the paperwork gets done & we are in a room. Well the IV gets put in & that sure hurt!! Never got an IV in my hand! Then the resident comes does an ultrasound & baby boy is head down.
Well fast forward to the juicy part. My OB decides a cervical is best since I’m only 1cm dialed & 75% effaced. We did the cervical & nothing happened for 5hrs!!!! My husband & I were so bored! Finally at 3pm they start the pitocin & I kinda had small contractions but not much! Well they keep upping the dosage gradually. I keep getting checked in between & not much progress.
Eventually contractions pick up & I get checked but I’m only a 4. I went ahead & asked for the epidural.. well about that.. it was painful for the numbing & then the inserting of the catheter because I have scoliosis. Finally after what seemed like forever they were done & I asked for my water to be broken. Now I’m at 4.5cm dilated.
But now things get a bit scary! Baby boy was not holding his heartbeat strong. With every contraction his heartbeat was dropping! I was so scared I had to turn away from the monitors. 3nurses came rushing in because they saw his heartbeat & they had me moving from side to side. Finally they decided to turn off the pitocin & nothing was happening.
At around 4am they decided to put 2 internal monitors one for his heartbeat & one for contractions. None of this was painful thank God for the epidural!
Now it’s like 5-6am & I feel a lot of pressure in my butt like I have to poop & it got worse with every contraction! I asked the nurse to get someone to see how dilated I was & no one came in until 7am so hubby & I took a nap.
At 7am the resident says you are completely dilated. It was go time! I did some practice pushes & then the nurse got my OB & things began! I pushed for less than an hour & did not tear at all!! Little baby Elijah Rain was born on 9/24 at 8:15am weighing 6lbs & 2oz & 19in long! I couldn’t help but cry my eyes out! My hubby cut the cord & I just held my little man.
Postpartum has been different! I miss my belly! breastfeeding has not been successful not even pumping & I have been crying about it every time someone brings it up. Little man won’t sleep in bassinet because he has really bad startle reflexes & the only way he’s been sleeping is on one of our chest.
Well if you made it this far let’s become friends because we can sure talk forever!! Hahahaha!! Thank you for reading! Here’s my little mister!
