Calling older moms/women!
Does anyone else feel like their pain tolerance is lower since they have gotten older?
I am 38 years old and pregnant for the 5th time. (2 miscarriages, a 14 year old, 11 year old twins, and one due November)
With my oldest, my water broke naturally and they gave me pitocin and and epidural. I hated being strapped to the bed way worse than the contractions.
With my twins, I was scheduled for a C-section because they were breech, but the miraculously turned head down a couple of days before. My water broke naturally again, but I was allowed to walk the halls during contractions, and they ended up coming vaginally before I had time for an epidural. It was painful for sure, but overall a MUCH easier birth than my oldest.
So if everything goes well I would really like to deliver this baby naturally as well. However I have noticed over the last couple of months that whenever I hurt myself in any little way, it seems like it hurts way more than things used to hurt! I feel like my pain tolerance has went way down as I have aged.
Is this a thing that happens? I worry it will make me less able to handle a natural birth.
I find some comfort knowing that I did have a pretty deep melanoma surgery last year and was able to manage the pain with just Tylenol, but to be honest it wasn't easy and was more about me terrified of becoming addicted to painkillers than my ability to handle the pain.
