Have you ever dated a sober person?

I was with someone who revealed to me who admitted they were sober on the first date. I dont have any experience in knowing someone who had a drug and alcohol addiction. Of course I live cali who I have friends who smoke weed and other stuff but they know there limit like drinking. I personally drink and I dont find it an issue because they are personally trying to be a better person. So what are your experiences in being with one who is sober? Any advice if I do want to peruse something with him?
